  • Born on May 6, 1941 in Selise, Estonia.
  • Master of Mechanical Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology (TUT, Estonia) 1964.
  • 1970–1972 PhD Student at D.I. Mendeleyev Research Institute of Metrology (VNIIM) in Saint Petersburg (Russia).
  • PhD Eng in Science in 1973 and DSc Eng in Science in 1990 at VNIIM.
  • 1965–1969, 1973–1978 Assistant, 1978–1991 Associate Professor and, since 1991, Professor of Chair of Metrology and Measurement Technique at TUT.
  • 1994–2000 Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics at TUT.
  • Since 1994 Member of the Appellate Board of Industrial Property at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Estonia.
  • Since 1996 Chairman of the Metrology Committee of the Estonian Accreditation Centre.
  • Research areas: theory of measurement, calibration of measuring instruments and uncertainty of measurement; over 190 publications in the field together with associates.
  • Born on May 30, 1928 in Sindi, Estonia.
  • Master of Science at Lund University (LU, Sweden) in 1956.
  • PhD in Physics at LU 1965
  • Senior Research Fellow (speciality measurement of heavy nuclei in cosmic radiation) at LU until 1974.
  • 1974–1995 various positions within the Swedish metrology infrastructure; Head of the Centre for Metrology 1977–1989.
  • Chairman of ISO TAG 4 1985–1996.
  • Secretary of WECC 1989–1994.
  • Convenor of the EA-4/02 drafting group and Secretary of the EA-5/01 and EA-3/03 drafting group 1994–1999.
  • Carried out an EU project to draft guidelines for the use of standards in the assessment of bodies seeking notification 1997–1999.
    Chairman of the Quantities and Units Committee at the Swedish Standards Institute 1987–1999.
  • 1994–2002 consulting assignments in metrology, including a position on the Metrology Board of the National Metrology Institute of Estonia.
